This derelict historic cottage was being rebuilt to mirror the original building.  The aim, to create an appealing property for use by guests and family. 

To the rear of the original cottage is a modern extension providing open plan living and access to the enclosed back garden.  Backed by a retaining wall, this enclosed garden offers uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape.

The client brief was to create a modern, low maintenance garden that includes features appealing to guests.

The design includes 3 key spaces – a patio for relaxation & entertaining, a lawn for play and a wellbeing area with sauna & hot tub.

Large, smooth paving connects the 3 areas and is replicated on the patio.  A simple planting palette includes pleached lime trees and borders of evergreen herbs and grasses providing year round interest.

Design was completed in summer 2026, with completion scheduled for 2027.
