2025 – Redesign of entrance/ parking area, rural Co. Down
The brief for this project was to create a welcoming and characterful entrance to the property, which is set with parkland and mature woodland.
Accessed via a tree lined lane, the existing space is a simple gravel chip driveway with ample parking for the clients visitors when entertaining. The challenge was to transform this largely open space into a verdant, beautifully landscaped area that would draw a natural connection between the arrival experience, the house, and the surrounding gardens.
The key desire for the client was to create a space that they loved to see when they drove home from work, a space that visitors are ‘wowed’ by and a space that is in keeping with the grandeur of the surrounding park and woodland.
The redesign focused on enhancing the visual appeal of the large parking area by changing the traffic and pedestrian flow, creation of curved borders with naturalistic planting close to the house, a car port with flowing path leading to the back door and installation of grasscrete surfacing. A product such as grasscrete allows grass and other self seeding annuals to naturalise and soften the parking areas.
The design was approved by the clients in June 2025 – and we look forward to seeing it implemented.
